In his early childhood, H.H. Bhanudas was fortunate to have the invaluable guidance of his grandfather, H. H. Shri Yashwantbuva Thakurdas. From that time itself, H.H. Bhanudas had a liking and eagerness for the path of spirituality. After coming to Mumbai in 1946 till his matriculation, H.H. Bhanudas also studied music from his
father, Pandit Manikbuva Thakurdas. In 1952, H.H. Bhanudas completed sangeet visharad in music while he was still in the matriculationclass. After matriculation, H.H. Bhanudas completed education in fine arts and then began professional work. He was honoured with both State and National awards. His professional recognition and income were also increasing. Still, one question troubled H.H. Bhanudas constantly. He had his own happy family; but he had no expectations whatsoever from his family members nor he had any desire for sensory pleasures.Yet he always felt that something beyond this world is beckoning him but could not understand what it was.
The turning point came in 1973 when some very close relatives who were very jealous of H.H. Bhanudas made an unsuccessful attempt to poison him at a wedding ceremony. He developed revulsion for such mean and despicable attitudes. What he wanted was to be eternally contented, peaceful and cheerful. He soon realised that nothing in this world including his dear & near ones could ever bestow him with such a state of mind. So H.H. Bhanudas came to the conclusion that he would himself have to attain such a state of mind and decided to begin sadhana i.e. meditation. While starting sadhana in May 1973, H.H. Bhanudas remembered on the very first day, his grandfather’s warning that faulty practices in the pursuit of sadhana, can lead to life-long physical or mental disorders. So H.H. Bhanudas decided to pursue sadhana with utmost vigilance. During H.H. Bhanudas entire period of sadhana, he experienced three strata of the mind which he has named as conscious mind, subconscious mind and supraconscious mind. He also experienced a different state of samádhí for each stratum of mind.H.H. Bhanudas had the darshan of his Sadguru, Akkalkot Swami in an embodied form on three occasions during the period of his sadhana. He also experienced Self-realisation in the ultimate phase of his sadhana.
After 18 years of sadhana, that is, in 1991 H.H. Bhanudas was commanded by H.H. Shri Akkalkot Swami Maharaj to stop the external sadhana. H.H. Bhanudas then began research on mind and discovered Spiritual-Science or Spiritual-Science as a perfect science of the mind. In 2003, H.H. Bhanudas began research on life after death under the auspices ofSpiritual-Science. According to his research, the flux of thoughts in a man’s conscious mind depends on his outlook or attitude to life. These thoughts create sanskars (impressions) on his conscious mind. These sanskars later get imprinted in the subconscious mind and finally in the supraconscious mind. When a man dies, the conscious mind dissolves along with the physical body; while the soul encased in the supraconscious mind moves on to a particular realm of the spirit world depending on the sanskars in the supraconscious mind.
When this research was in progress, H.H. Bhanudas had discussions with some reputed persons connected with different faculties of science about his own research and conclusions about the mind as well as the Universe. A well known astronomer and a nuclear scientist found H.H. Bhanudas inferences about the Big Bang and the Universe logical and convincing. A renowned neurosurgeon could neither substantiate his repeated assertion that the mind is situated in the brain nor refute arguments put forth by , H.H. Bhanudas that the mind pervades the entire body. Eventually a psychiatrist too was nonplussed to see how H.H. Bhanudas could keep his mind thought-free and remain ever cheerful!
